A little about Jay Brooks

I am the unluckiest guy in the world. My mom once said the Brooks’ family motto was “If it wasn’t for bad luck we wouldn’t have any luck at all”, which makes my accomplishments that much more impressive.

I have only been in Virginia for five years and was an already avid kayak angler. I began learning the local waters, adapting the skills I learned in Texas to the fish of Virginia. I met and learned a ton from Kevin Whitley ( KayakKevin.com ), Lee Williams, William Ragulsky and Rob Choi ( Angling-Addict.com ). Without those guys I wouldn’t be where I am as an angler. I am still to this day running ideas past them and constantly evolving as an angler.

In the past couple years, I've also taken on fishing from my first boat a Kencraft Challenger 206, having to translate the same skills I use landing big fish from a kayak into captaining from a much larger vessel. I now moved on from the Kencraft and upgraded to a Contender 27 Open for persuing my blue water addiction. I also recently started fly fishing, I'm always striving to do more...bigger...better, and I won't stop until I've mastered it all.

Here you'll find valuable information on all types of angling adventures along the East Coast, providing the tools and expertise needed to hit the water hard. Time to take it to the next level of fishing!
